Putting your own brand on floor drains: logo, packaging and color box choices

2026-09-17

Selling generic floor drains means competing on price forever. Put your brand on them, and suddenly you're selling a product, not a commodity. Here's how the customization usually works.

The logo part is the easy bit. Most factories can laser-etch or stamp your mark on the grate edge or the frame. On stainless covers you can even get it embossed, which looks and feels more premium. Costs a little more per piece but it's worth it — that logo is what installers and contractors remember.

Packaging comes in levels. The cheapest option is a polybag with a plain brown box, fine for project orders but useless for retail. One step up is a plain white box with your sticker on it — low MOQ, quick turnaround, decent middle ground.

The full color box is where things get interesting. You supply the artwork, the factory prints it on roughly 350g coated paper, CMYK. Your brand on the front, specs on the side, maybe a QR code on the back linking to an install video. That QR code does real work — fewer support calls, fewer returns.

Add an insert tray so the drain and its parts don't rattle around, and the whole thing feels like a serious product instead of a random hunk of metal.

Now the catch: MOQ. Custom boxes usually run 500 to 1000 pieces per SKU, sometimes more for small sizes. So start with your two or three best-selling models, brand those, and expand later.

One more thing — make sure your trademark is actually registered before you print it on ten thousand boxes. Ask me how people learn that lesson.
